Neon Note

Privacy Policy

Effective 29 July 2026 · Applies to Neon Note for iPhone, iPad and Mac, version 1.0.0

In short: Neon Note collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your notes stay on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud storage. The developer cannot see them.

1. Who we are

Neon Note is a handwritten note-taking app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, developed and maintained by an independent developer. For any question about this policy, write to dev+neonnote@dark4d.com.

2. What the app stores

On your device only, the app stores:

  • The notes you create: their name, chosen icon, and the handwritten lines you draw, saved as images
  • Your preferences: interface language, last used pen colour and thickness, note ordering, and whether iCloud is enabled

The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or location, and it has no login of any kind.

3. What we collect

Nothing. The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking technology and no third-party components that gather data. It makes no network connection to any server operated by us, because we operate no server. In Apple's App Privacy terms, this app is Data Not Collected.

4. iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud and leave iCloud enabled in the app, your notes are mirrored into the app's private iCloud container, held under your own Apple Account. This exists so your notes survive a lost, broken or replaced device, and stay in step across your devices.

That copy is stored by Apple, under your account. We cannot read, access, retrieve or delete it. Apple's handling of it is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

You can turn iCloud off at any time in the app's Settings. Your notes remain on your device.

5. Children

The app is suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, children included, and contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no external links and no user-to-user communication.

6. Keeping and deleting your data

  • Deleting a note in the app removes it from your device and from the iCloud copy.
  • Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.
  • To remove the iCloud copy on iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Neon Note.
  • On a Mac: System Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage → Neon Note.

We keep nothing, so there is nothing for us to delete or retain.

7. Sharing and selling

We do not share, sell, rent, trade or disclose any data about you — we never receive any. No data is passed to advertisers, data brokers or analytics providers.

8. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a similar jurisdiction, data protection law gives you rights of access, correction, export and erasure against organisations holding your personal data. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. Any copy in your iCloud account is under your own control at all times.

9. Security

Notes are held inside the app's sandbox on your device, protected by iOS or macOS and your device passcode. Data mirrored to iCloud is protected by Apple's encryption in transit and at rest.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
